Wandering Beyond Borders: A Suitcase of 101 Stories
An engaging and inspiring afternoon unfolded under Prabha Khaitan Foundation’s Sahyog initiative in collaboration with Spark PR, celebrating the transformative power of global exploration. The session, titled “Travel Tales – A Suitcase with 101 Stories,” brought together literature and travel enthusiasts for a captivating conversation featuring globetrotter Neeru Saluja in conversation with Tusharika Singh. Having journeyed across 101 countries, Saluja offered the audience a window into experiences that transcended mere geographic destinations, revealing life lessons, cultural bonds, and intimate human connections gathered across continents.
The session commenced with a warm welcome address by Ajay Singha, setting an inviting tone for an afternoon centered around curiosity, wanderlust, and shared human heritage.
Opening the dialogue, Saluja traced the origins of her passion for exploration to childhood family road trips, reflecting on how early memories shaped her worldview. She fondly recalled the formative years spent traversing diverse Indian cities on a scooter alongside her husband—a steadfast travel partner whose shared enthusiasm deepened her commitment to discovering the unknown. Steering the discussion toward the philosophy of movement, Saluja and Singh explored the nuanced distinction between being a tourist and a true traveller. Saluja emphasized that authentic travel requires stepping beyond popular sightseeing spots to actively immerse oneself in regional cuisine, local dialects, and spontaneous daily conversations with native communities.
The interactive exchange left attendees with a renewed appreciation for global cultures and the quiet wisdom found in slow, intentional travel. Concluding the session, Jagdeep Singh delivered the formal vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the speakers and guests for an enriching literary and cultural afternoon. Following the vote of thanks, Sudhir Mathur felicitated Saluja, while Rahul Sarda felicitated Singh, presenting them with tokens of appreciation on behalf of the organizers.
