Unraveling History: The Genesis of ‘The Bose Deception’
Marking a memorable milestone for Prabha Khaitan Foundation’s expanding footprint in the Northern-Hills Region, The Write Circle made its grand debut in Haldwani. The inaugural evening brought together history enthusiasts and literary minds for a compelling dialogue with Chandrachur Ghose—an acclaimed author, researcher, and columnist renowned for his deep-dive historical works. Hosted in conversation with Aparna Anand, the session set the stage for an intellectually charged exploration of modern Indian political history.
The session commenced with a warm welcome note by Smriti Goyal, Ehsaas Woman of Haldwani, who introduced the speakers and set the stage for an intellectually charged discussion.
Opening the conversation, Ghose reflected on his intriguing professional evolution from an environmentalist and business strategy consultant to a full-time author and researcher. The discussion quickly transitioned to his book, The Bose Deception: Declassified, probing into the painstaking historical research required to navigate one of modern India’s most debated chapters—the mysteries surrounding Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Ghose emphasized the paramount importance of examining history through verifiable evidence, declassified documents, and objective inquiry rather than accepted narratives. Engaging Anand in a broad-spectrum dialogue, he explored how past political decisions, hidden archival facts, and historical re-evaluations continue to shape the socio-political consciousness of contemporary India.

The session concluded with an interactive Q&A where attendees engaged Ghose on archival research and political history. Delivering the formal vote of thanks, Kanika Agrawal, Ehsaas Woman of Kashipur, expressed deep gratitude to the speakers and guests for making the Foundation’s Haldwani launch a remarkable success. Following the vote of thanks, Ghose and Anand were felicitated with traditional handcrafted string puppets from Rajasthan by Neeraj Sharda and Renu Sharda respectively, celebrating India’s vibrant folk traditions. The evening drew to a close with an intimate book-signing session.
This session was organized with the support of Ehsaas Women of Haldwani and Hospitality Partner, Fortune Walkway Mall Haldwani.
